Leland Industries sponsors inaugural NASCAR event in Ontario
You may know Leland Industries for its North American made fasteners, but NASCAR fans in Canada also know the company’s fondness for racing. The company has been a sponsor for a number of years, and on June 20, it was the primary sponsor for an inaugural Canadian Tire Series event at Sunset Speedway at Barrie, Ontario. The Leland 300 Presented by Johnsonville was a 300-lap event around a banked one-third-mile oval. The race marked the first time in the series’ history that Canada’s national stock car championship has appeared at Sunset, which became a NASCAR-sanctioned track during the off-season.
Leland Industries Race Car
Racing the #2 Leland car, a white and blue version of the Micks Motorsports Ford Taurus, was racer driver Mark Dilley. Although he did not take the checkered flag, Dilley, now Sunset’s general manager, was behind the wheel to pay tribute to Leland Industries, his longtime sponsor and primary sponsor of the Sunset race.
